Egypt’s EFG Hermes Plans $150M Investment in Saudi Arabia’s Private Education Sector

EFG Hermes, the investment banking arm of Egypt’s EFG Holding, is moving to deploy over $150 million into Saudi Arabia’s education sector over the next two years, backed by its investment fund targeting the creation of a regional education platform, amid the private sector’s rapid growth in the Kingdom.

Karim Moussa, Co-CEO of the Group, stated that the fund has raised $250 million so far toward a $300 million target, and has already deployed $125 million across six Saudi schools.

Expanding Private Education Footprint

Hermes is working on expanding the “Hayat” schools network, while also exploring the acquisition of two additional schools. The firm is further considering entering the nursery market, capitalizing on the Kingdom’s growing demand for private education.

Energy Expansion via Fortex Energy

Separately, Fortex Energy, the Group’s energy arm, is looking to expand into Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria through its subsidiary “Egenis,” in response to rising energy demand from data centers, in line with a global push toward investment in digital infrastructure and clean energy solutions.

Hermes anticipates growing demand for new energy solutions, driven by the expansion of data centers and the rise of AI applications.

Assets Under Management on the Rise

EFG Holding’s assets under management have climbed to $6.5 billion, spread across a diverse mix of funds and investment platforms tracking growth across education, energy, and regional markets.
